Why I Started Thin Line Fly Co.
People often ask why I started Thin Line Fly Co.
The answer isn't really about fishing.
Like many veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and everyday people, I've experienced seasons of stress, burnout, uncertainty, and the challenges that come with serving others. As a U.S. Army combat medic, registered nurse, and EMS provider, I've spent much of my life helping people through some of their hardest days.
Over the years, I found myself returning to the water.
Not because it solved every problem, but because it gave me something many of us struggle to find: quiet. A chance to slow down. Time to think. Time to breathe.
Fishing taught me that sometimes healing doesn't happen in a hospital, office, or classroom. Sometimes it happens standing in a river, watching a fly drift through a run, sharing stories with a friend, or simply enjoying a few hours away from the demands of everyday life.
That's why I started Thin Line Fly Co.
My goal was never just to catch fish. My goal was to create meaningful experiences outdoors and help people connect with something bigger than themselves. Whether it's a veteran looking to reconnect after military service, a first responder needing a break from the stress of the job, a family spending time together, or someone picking up a fly rod for the very first time, I believe the outdoors has something valuable to offer all of us.
Today, Thin Line Fly Co. provides guided fishing experiences on the Chattahoochee River, Lake Lanier, and other North Georgia waters. But more importantly, it serves as a platform to bring people together, encourage time outdoors, and hopefully create a few memories that last long after the trip is over.
Looking ahead, I hope to expand opportunities for veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities to experience the outdoors through partnerships, sponsorships, and community programs.
At the end of the day, the fish are only part of the story.
The real value is the time spent on the water, the conversations shared, and the reminder that sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down and enjoy where we are.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
Tight Lines. Steady Minds.
